The cough is a reflector act in which the air from the airways goes out quickly and with characteristic noise. With the cough are evacuated sputum, blood foreign bodies. The most often causes for cough are:

  • pharyngitis, laryngitis, tracheitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, pleurisy;
  • foreign body in trachea and bronchi;
  • pulmonary tuberculosis;
  • pulmonary cancer;
  • asthma;
  • pulmonary abscess;
  • pulmonary infarct;
  • chronic obstructive pulmonary disease;
  • pneumothorax;
  • rib fracture;
  • pulmonary cyst;
  • whooping cough;
  • sarcoidosis;
  • heart failure - pulmonary oedema.
