Liver steatosis

Liver steatosis represents fatty degeneration of the liver. Fats are accumulated in form of small fat drops in the hepatocytes. Most frequently, the cause of liver steatosis are: alcoholism, diabetes, overfeed or malnutrition, tuberculosis or other infectious disease, pregnancy, menopause, diseases of the hart or inflammation of the lungs. In the initial phase, there are not complaints. In the advanced stage of the liver steatosis nausea and vomiting are present. There are heaviness in the right sub costal region, appetite lessening, unbearableness for fat substance. Liver becomes enlarged and painful; the tongue is red and smooth. Quite often there is a testis atrophy and gynecomasty (mammary glands in man become enlarged). In case of massive steatosis the function of the liver is disturbed. In the initial phase of the disease can be reversible, especially in amelioration of the disease which causes steatosis (stop of the consumption of alcohol drinks, compensation of diabetes, rational alimentation).
