Rheumatic fever

The most important signs of Rheumatic fever are:

  • high temperature , 38 degrees and over
  • intoxication of the organism
  • polyarthitis
  • skin rheumatism

Rheumatic polyarthritis is injury of the joints. The large joints (knees, elbows, ankles, wrists) are swollen painful on movement and rest, the skin upon them gets red. Usually the joint inflammation is well defined for about a week and after that it's subsides - the swelling and the pain disappear movements in the joints restore. Sometimes rheumatic fever affects intervertebral discs and joints of the fingers of the hands.
